5 Tips to Make Moving in to your New Austin Home Painless

Moving into a new home can be stressful, especially if you are moving across the country and need to keep things organized. That is why we wanted to provide you with 5 simple tips to make moving into your new Austin home painless.

#1 Use Colored Duct Tape to Color Code

Oh the many uses for duct tape. Go and get a different color of duct tape for each room in your home that you will be moving into.  Assign a color to each room, and as you pack, label your boxes with that color of tape and write with a sharpie to label them with the room and what is in each box.

#2 Trash Bags for Hanging Clothes

Instead of taking your clothes off the hanger, boxing them up, and re-hanging them when into your new home, keep them all on their hangers and use a large garbage bag to keep them all together. Group a bunch of clothes together on hangers, bag them from the bottom up, and tie the

#3 Wrap Everything!

Make sure to wrap all of your valuables! It is so easy for things to get broken when moving, and so important to make sure everything is carefully cushioned. You can use newspaper, old phonebooks, bubble wrap, clothes, socks, towels, and more. Get creative!

#4 Packing with Plastic Bins

Pack your items that will be in storage, the garage, or the basement in large plastic bins. This is great for decorations from holidays, camping items, auto supplies, and more. This will make it easy to transfer them into the designated areas and sort through them when you get more time after you have moved everything critical into your home.

#5 Find a Trusted Local Storage Unit

A lot of times we accumulate more than we can store in our houses, and having a storage unit can help with a lot of stress when dealing with too many things in the house. Finding a trusted storage unit can be a toss up, but look for one that has deals and discounts, and great customer storage. Extra Space Storage will give all the clients that move into a storage unit their first month free, and 20% off a moving truck rental, so that might be a good place to start looking!

Don’t let moving get you down, just remember to stay calm and stay organized! These moving tips should help relieve some of the stress that comes with moving into a new place.
